In Greece that is the most traditional and popular type of olives where they are called Kalamon olives. Not green not black but Kalamata olives. Very distinguish flavor, meaty texture, bitter, more salty than green or black.
Kalamata olives are named after the town of Kalamata located in southern Peloponnese.
There is a common perception that Kalamata olives are the healthiest type of olive. Although for connoisseurs.
Are olives good for you? The answer is YES, VERY GOOD.
